Responsibilities

  • Own the product backlog and prioritize features that deliver measurable value to biotech and pharma R&D users.
  • Translate user needs (bench scientists, computational biologists, ML engineers, R&D leaders) into clear, testable user stories, acceptance criteria and wireframes.
  • Run discovery: interview users, run usability tests, analyze telemetry, and validate product hypotheses.
  • Coordinate cross-functional delivery: work closely with full-stack and AI engineers, DevOps, QA, and design to move features from spec to production.
  • Define and maintain product artifacts: product roadmap, PRDs, API/UX specs, release notes and developer docs.
  • Manage pilot programs and customer onboarding: recruit pilot users, run onboarding sessions, capture feedback and convert pilots to repeatable product requirements.
  • Monitor product health and KPIs (usage, job success rate, time-to-first-result, onboarding time); use metrics to prioritize bugs and improvements.
  • Own stakeholder communication: give regular demos, report progress to leadership, and solicit cross-team alignment.
  • Ensure compliance & governance requirements are represented in product decisions (auditability, data access controls, export-control gating).
  • Create and maintain customer-facing materials: product one-pagers, onboarding playbooks, runbooks, and API docs.
  • Act as the voice of the customer inside the company; evangelize product choices and customer needs across the org.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, grooming, retrospectives and acceptance of delivered work; work with engineering to remove blockers.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • 5+ years product management experience delivering B2B/SaaS products; minimum 2+ years working on ML/AI products or computational platforms.
  • Experienced working with science or technology product development required.
  • Proven track record running pilots and onboarding early customers; ability to translate pilot learnings into product improvements.
  • Strong analytical orientation: experience defining KPIs, designing experiments, A/B tests and interpreting usage/telemetry to prioritize work.
  • Exceptional stakeholder and people-management skills: comfortable working with scientists, engineers, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize under ambiguity and to balance short-term delivery with long-term platform strategy.
  • Bachelor’s degree (any technical, business or life-science background). Relevant domain experience in life sciences / biotech is a strong plus but not mandatory.

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience in life-science, drug-discovery, or computational biology environments (R&D workflows, lab integration, LIMS, ELN).
  • Familiarity with ML/AI product lifecycle, model registry concepts or MLOps (helpful for faster onboarding, but not required).
  • Experience working with regulated customers (pharma, clinical, or similar) and familiarity with audit/GxP concepts.
  • Experience with developer-facing products (APIs, SDKs, CLI) or platform products.
